Overview:
This 1 day Ex General Principles course covers the essential elements needed to ensure you develop and stay up to date with the latest Ex developments and maintain your Ex general knowledge with regards to Ex equipment, ATEX and IECEx.
This course provides all of the information you need to build a solid foundation of knowledge of the Ex industry, plus you will get a detailed pdf workbook of all of the content for future reference.
Who should attend?
We have designed this programme especially for those working in technical roles in the Ex industry (technicians, engineers, quality engineers). This course can act as a “refresher”, an introduction to hazardous areas or to fill gaps in knowledge.
This knowledge is essential for those working in Ex manufacturing, design and certification. This particular course is not well-suited for “non-technical” roles due to the technical nature of the content.
How will I benefit?
You will be able to understand and demonstrate knowledge of the fundamentals of hazardous areas, the Ex industry, explosion protection methods and mitigations and how they are put into practice in the ATEX and IECEx certification schemes.
The “safety first” and understanding “why” not just “what” philosophy, will help you develop a deeper understanding of why applying the general principles are such a key aspect of working with Ex equipment or hazardous areas themselves.
After the course you will be able to understand the following key topics:
- What is a “hazardous area”?
- Explosion properties of gases and dusts
- The principles of how explosions are mitigated
- Ex types of protection and why they work
- An overview of what ATEX is, how it works and what it covers
- What the UK rules are after Brexit
- An overview of what IECEx is, how it works and what it covers
- The “insightEx 6-steps” designed to break down the multitude of codes, zones, types, groups, categories, ratings etc. involved in categorising hazardous areas, and used in Ex Marking (a complicated subject, put into a simple to follow process)
Did you know – It is a requirement of the ATEX QAN and IECEx QAR audits for staff involved in the design, testing and inspection of Ex Equipment to have training in Ex General Principles? Lack of staff training can lead to an audit Non-Conformance!
